These are my two scooters with sidecars; A ‘64 Vespa GS 160 MK2 with Cozy sidecar. The second is a ‘57 Allstate Jetspeed with orignal dealer installed Cushman “side kar”. The Jet sweep was the Cushman Pacemaker re-badged for Sears. The lovely children models are mine too :)
Robert Volz’s GS/Custom rig - It’s a 1962 GS 160, painted by Boyd Coddington, the famous Orange County Hot Rod painter. Sidecar, metal, piaggio, frame was beat up and tweeked. Russ Meeks of Portland (Russ is an old hot rodder who has a degree in engineering, MIT, who builds cars to race on the Bonneville salt flats) rebuilt it using what was left and an old bent GS fork, turned backwards and flipped around. The hub is unique to the piaggio sidecars because it can be turned around to accept either an 8 or 10 inch wheel. Sweet, sweet rig!
Doug Bingham’s P200/Globe rig - That’s right, Mr. Sidecar himself owned a scooter! In fact he is still selling sidecars for scooters by way of Sidstriders. He’s also part owner of Watsonian sidecars. He is one hell of a guy! Thanks for all your support Doug.
